Science and art: a common path towards Beauty and Truth

At International Conferences and multiple local symposia on “Science and Art” it has held, the Union of Greek Physicists (UGP) has brought the common pathways of Science and Art to the forefront, aiming to remind us that Natural Sciences can easily blend into Art. This also allows current and future scientists to become aware of the Union’s main goals and the dynamic intervention of Science in modern-day Greece and the world.

The topic of the 2nd International Interdisciplinary Conference is “Science and Art: a common path towards Beauty and Truth”. In modern times, from the 17th century onwards, it appears that the following two realizations related to Science and Art have become almost self-evident in the consciousness of western societies. The first realization sees Science as the pre-eminent method for seeking and discovering the Truth, often concluding that during this search, Science disregards the Beauty of the World and ignores the subjective nature of things. On the other hand, according to the second realization, Art is seen as a place where the Beauty of the world ought to be recorded and confronted, without, however, any substantial participation in the search for Truth.

The Interpretation of the Whole

Anna Salustru

Within the chaos of terrible uncertainty, our mind alters its subtle coherence, turning it into a flow of shapes that sprout and come to life at unexpected turns, containing mirrors, deep and unforeseen relationships and the constant magic of the unknown. Self-awareness disappears, time ceases to exist.

The experience of my unique presence joins my sense of self as an integral part of the whole.
